Mosul Day Tour from Erbil

Departing from Erbil this morning, you will head for the one of Iraq's most important cities, and the second largest in the country, Mosul.

In Iraq, the city of Mosul is regarded as the Pearl of the North. With a rich history dating back to 6000 BC, Mosul gained prominence in 1800 BC when it was designated as the City of Nineveh, the capital of the Neo-Assyrian Empire. Regrettably, Mosul has gained more attention in recent years as a result of ISIS's 2014–2017 occupation and destruction of the city, leaving a significant number of historical sites and educational institutions either completely in ruins or in ruins.

It's hard to imagine a place more iconic than Mosul. In fact, Mosul is considered to be among the larger and more historically and culturally significant cities of the Arab world. Due to its strategic location, Mosul has long been a major hub for international trade and tourism.

The once-beautiful city of Mosul is now a shell of its former self. The city was attacked by ISIS and has been abandoned for years. A few sights have been restored, but there are still plenty of places to explore where you can still get a sense of what life was like before the war.

Itinerary:

The drive today will be approximately two hours each way. Upon arrival you will have an opportunity to visit both the east side and the west side of the city, also know as old and new. Sites visited may include the following. Note that there is not enough time in one day to visit even half of the below. It depends on the day tour arrive and timing of what is visited. If there are particular must sees then please feel free to let us know upon booking.

Avis

“We visited Iraq in August despite reservations based on news in the US. Our experience was entirely contrary to what was portrayed in the West. We were there for four days and it was entirely peaceful with no signs of conflict whatsoever. Ahmet organized our hotels and itinerary based on what we had requested. We wanted to travel for ziaret to the religious sites but also see other historical sites to mix it up. Hayder was our guide and Ali was our driver - we couldn't have asked for more helpful, friendly, respectful pair. Our kids felt immediately comfortable around them and they made an effort to cater to all of our needs. We were able to see Karbala, Najaf, Kufa, Samarra, Baghdad, and Babylonin four days. We even stopped in Fallujah for dinner! The food there is incredible and Hayder and Ali were sure they took us to the best places with lots of variety. We were welcomed everywhere we went as the Iraqis are warm, inviting folk. A trip to Iraq is highly recommended with this team!”
